DAUGHTERS OF THE KING (DOK)
DOK invites women parishioners to join together to extend Christ’s Kingdom through prayer, service and evangelism. The Esther/Margaret Scotland Chapter of St. Andrew’s was charted in 1996. The chapter is currently working on a program for the pediatric ward at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital-Oakland in Pontiac, Michigan.The goal of the program is to ease the fear and anxiety children feel upon entering a hospital.
The adult education ministry provides educational programs for our parish family and friends and for coordinating adult Christian education programs offered by other groups within our parish.
Women of the parish who are responsible for the care and preparation of the sanctuary for all scheduled services including Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals. The altar guild also maintain and care for Eucharistic vessels and linens.
A faithful and dedicated group of men and women who assist the clergy on Sunday mornings and at special occasions. Greeting all with a smile, handshake and a Sunday bulletin, assist the Sunday school classes, helps at Eucharist and tidy up the pews after service.
Children are invited to attend a fun, hands-on learning activity during the first part of the Liturgy. Teachers are all certified by the Diocese of Michigan “Safe Church” program. Parents are always welcome to accompany their child. Everyone rejoins the congregation at the peace for holy communion. All generations are always welcome at the Table.
This group of dedicated folks is in charge of coffee hour and providing a welcoming gift of a loaf of bread to first time visitors. We also sponsor Eucharist in the Park, the annual parish picnic, the St. Nicholas Brunch, parish supper clubs and the annual theatre party.
ST. ANDREW’S ANIMAL MINISTRY (S.A.A.M.)
The mission of SAAM has been to support the Oakland County Animal Shelter in ministering to the needs of homeless and abandon animals. SAAM provides canned cat food, clay kitty litter ,bath towels, blankets, leashes and collars, food dishes, pet toys, bound carpet squares, pet carriers and kitty litter boxes.
A LEAP IN FAITH (ALIFT)
The ALIFT group is an intercessory prayer and bible study group. Those for whom the group prays are members and friends of the parish, members and friends of the group and those people whose names have been given to the group pray to God for strength, understanding, acceptance and wholeness/healing.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS, VISITORS AND LECTORS
People interpreting scriptures from the congregation, assisting the priest at the altar, and/or carrying the sacraments to the shut-ins.
The card ministry is a program designed to help our parish stay connected with one another. Cards are mailed to parishioners for many different occasions, including congratulations for the birth of a child, sympathy for the loss of a loved one, get well cards, thinking of you cards, cards for encouragement, and many other occasions.
